The USS Iowa BB-61, which famously transported President Roosevelt overseas on his way to meeting with Winston Churchill and Joseph Stalin, was the only ship of its class to serve in the Atlantic Ocean during World War II. She saw many notable battles, including the Marshall Islands Battle of the Mariana Islands and the Battle of Leyte Gulf. The ship went on to serve in raids on the North Korean coast during the Korean War.
